Last Thursday we welcomed around 100 in-person attendees and 100 virtual viewers to our first hybrid event, Cannes Lions Unlocked, at the Curzon Soho. It was hosted by our very own UKAEG Marketing Manager, Aisling Conlon, and featured a fantastic line-up of speakers.
First to take to the stage was Cannes Lions’ Phil Thomas who talked about the last two years of the festival, the achievements of Team UK and the growing importance of partnerships in the best award-winning work. He also discussed his personal highlights of the festival, one of which being when there is a new winner – this year it was Pakistan.
Next up, Alex Jenkins from Contagious cantered through 2020 and 2021’s smartest award-winning campaigns in a fascinating bumper session full of insights. In powerful words, Alex said that when creativity is at its best, it doesn’t only reflect culture, it can change and shape it too.
We were also treated to a fantastic presentation from AMV BBDO’s Nick Hulley and Nadja Lossgott, who won an astonishing 4 Grand Prix at Cannes Lions this year for their ground-breaking campaign, ‘Womb Stories’, which is the latest in a series of campaigns that strives to break taboos about women’s bodies and health.
A huge thanks goes to everyone who attended and of course our brilliant speakers – it was great to see you all in person and online. We hope to see everyone again very soon!
