The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around Brexit, HFSS and gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital charter and our Industrial Strategy campaigns.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 50 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

WE’VE MISSED YOU!

Pinch us now, we’re just two weeks away from our first in-person event for more than 18 months! Industry events have always been a huge highlight in our calendar before the pandemic hit. We have really missed them and seeing you all and so we are incredibly excited to be hosting our first one next month!

The event is Cannes Lions Unlocked which we’re hosting as UK representative for Cannes Lions along with our partners. It is a special event for young talent and is a showcase of the best work and key learnings from the last two years of the festival.

Highlights will include a ‘Cannes Deconstructed’ session by the brilliant Contagious team – the definitive guide to what matters in advertising and creativity, and a session on ‘Womb Stories’ by AMV BBDO, which won 4 Grand Prix at Cannes Lions this year.

The in-person event will take place at the Curzon Soho but there are also tickets to watch the event online. Find out more and book a place here.

WHAT A BRILLIANT CAMPAIGN!

The Paralymic Games started this week and we are super-excited! It’s a chance once again to see how advertising showcases our brilliant Team GB and brings about more inclusivity in the process. Front Foot member, adam&eveDDB, has worked with the International Paralympic Committee to promote a new disability inclusivity movement through the We The 15 campaign, the name of which references the 15% of the global population who are disabled.

The new film ‘#WeThe15’ signals the start of a decade-long global campaign to fight for the true inclusivity of the world’s population of disabled people. It aired during the opening ceremony and will again during the closing ceremony of the Games. You can watch the film here.

As part of our Inclusion workstream with fellow trade bodies, the IPA and ISBA, we created UK Advertising’s first and biggest industry-wide survey, the All In Census, to learn about the make-up of our industry and then produce an action plan in order to build a workplace where everyone feels they belong. The second action that came out of this is to ‘Improve the Experience & Representation of Disabled Talent’. Learn more about this action, download our All In Report and check out its dedicated directory here.

ADVERTISING & THE ROLLING STONES

This week has been a sad one for Rolling Stones fans everywhere, with the news Drummer, Charlie Watts, passed away, aged 80. His drumming, and their songs, have appeared on many an ad. Their connection with advertising began in 1961 when they provided a tune for Rice Krispies and there’s quite a bit been written about the Stones and their relationship with advertising since then, including the story of the $4M deal they struck back in 1991 with Snickers for a short blast of ‘Satisfaction’.

So, here are a few more ads to feature Rolling Stones songs, powered by the beats of Charlie Watts…
