This week we have published our 2020 Annual Review!
It is our showcase of the work of the association over the past twelve months as well as the major areas of focus for us in the year ahead. Commenting on the launch, our Chief Executive, Stephen Woodford, said: “There’s no doubt 2020 was a tough year for everyone in the UK advertising industry but, reflecting on the year just gone, I believe our industry showed resilience, agility and responsibility, all the while earning its place right at the heart of the UK’s economic and social wellbeing.
“We’ve proved advertising when it’s at its best can work hard for businesses and society during the toughest of times and I know that advertising will play a key part in the UK’s recovery this year. I am proud of all that we have achieved both as an association and as an industry.”
In the report, you will be able to find thought leadership pieces from the likes of AA Chair, Philippa Brown, AA President Keith Weed CBE, AA Climate Action Group Chair, James Best, and AA Inclusion Group Chair, Kathryn Jacob OBE. It also looks at key topics such as Covid-19, trust in advertising, the climate crisis, inclusion and much more.

For the past 35 years South by Southwest (SXSW) has taken place in Austin, Texas. This year however, the event will take place entirely online due to the Coronavirus pandemic and UK advertising is planning its activity at a number of sessions at the event.
In a first for our UK Advertising Exports Group (UKAEG), it will be curating the ‘UK Advertising is Made Global’ virtual event to be held as part of its Made Global campaign created by adam&eveDDB and The Mill. The event will be free to attend for thinkers, makers, and investors across key markets to meet and hear from leading UK experts.
UKAEG wants to hear from advertising and marketing services companies who wish to take part in the event – the group is now inviting submissions from businesses wishing to do so.

On Tuesday morning we hosted our twice-yearly meeting for marketing and communication leaders across our membership. It was our second on-screen gathering, due to Covid-19, and as lovely as it was to catch up, we sincerely hope the next one in July will be in person. Fingers crossed!!!
We shared our plans are for the year ahead, including our work on climate action, inclusion and diversity, and rebuilding public trust in advertising. We also introduced some of our newest team members and highlighted key dates coming up in our calendar, such as RESET. It was also great to hear about the experiences from across our membership so a big THANK YOU to all who attended.
In our weekly series we are pulling together, in one place, a selection of must-reads from across our industry media.
