The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around Brexit, HFSS and gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital charter and our Industrial Strategy campaigns.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 50 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

Ad Net Zero Global Summit Official Programme

Ahead of the Global Summit, Ad Net Zero has announced its exciting official programme.

This free-to-attend online event will mark the first anniversary of the Advertising Association IPA and ISBA’s initiative to bring the ad operations to net zero by end 2030. The Global Summit is being funded by the Ad Net Zero supporter base which has 76 leading organisations representing the broad spectrum of the UK advertising industry, many of whom are also exploring how to accelerate positive action in international territories.  

The Summit will be introduced by Lee Rowley MP, Minister for Business and Industry, and will see panels hosted by leading voices in broadcasting including Channel 4’s Steph McGovern.  

STV will play host to the Summit live from its HQ in Glasgow, directly opposite the location for COP26. Online attendees will hear from leaders in companies including Unilever, Mastercard, Pepsico, Havas, Dentsu, WPP, Facebook, Google, Sky, global and international trade bodies such as the World Federation of Advertisers, the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority and isla, global advertising industry experts from the likes of Cannes Lions and Campaign and dynamic initiatives in this space such as ChangeTheBrief and Adgreen

On Day One (November 3) the content programme will set out the ambitions of Ad Net Zero and the system change needed in the world’s advertising industry to reflect the changes necessary across business and society to tackle the climate emergency.  

‘Advertising’s Role in a Sustainable World’ are among the day’s sessions to look out for, with Facebook’s newly-appointed global ad chief Nicola Mendelsohn joining Sky’s Debbie Klein, Google’s Ronan Harris, and dentsu UK’s Hamish Nicklin – moderated by Campaign UK’s editor-in-chief Gideon Spanier.   

Also on the programme will be WPP CEO, Mark Read, looking at how creativity can play a role in tackling climate change, while a session brought by Raja Rajamannar at Mastercard and Ana Maria Henao at Pepsico will explore marketing and sustainability. 

On Day Two (November 4) the content programme will take the form of a series of practical workshops, with step-by-step advice and guidance for advertising professionals to understand how to track, measure and reduce the carbon emissions of their work, as well as support the shift to more sustainable products and services across all areas of people’s lives.
